Small and Medium sized businesses haven taken to ecommerce strongly in 2011 with more and more customers now online, it has been reported.
There had been research conducted by PeoplePerHour.com which has revealed a significant rise in the number of small firms embracing ecommerce website design during 2011
PeoplePerHour.com found that 26% of small and medium Business now trade exclusively over the internet. With no bricks and mortar shops at all.
And 47 per cent of small businesses generate 50 per cent or more of their sales using an ecommerce platform.
Xenios Thrasyvoulou, chief executive of PeoplePerHour.com, said the move to ecommerce will not be news to the majority of observers of the UK small business sector. Especially those involved in website design.
"What will come as a surprise, however, is the pace with which the UK small business community is embracing the opportunities offered by the internet," he said.
"We're witnessing a paradigm shift in the way small businesses market their products and sell their products and services - and it's happening at an incredible pace."
